Gainesville Va – The Road Less Traveled

posted on April 9th, 2012 filed under: Virginia

Every grade school kid reads the poem by Robert Frost. Sometimes taking a quiet walk in a forest can bring new perspective and focus you on what is truly important.

Gainesville Virginia is home to Conway Robinson State Forest. This 450 acre forest offers opportunities for education, volunteering, hiking, mountain biking, and horseback riding. Don’t forget about all the wildlife surrounding you that you get to see. This forest is also used as a demonstration site for activities from tree planting to harvesting, as well as environmental considerations for water quality and wildlife.

But most of all it is a place to take a quiet walk on a less traveled road, if you will.

Conway Robinson State Forest is in the midst of the most developed urban and suburban area in Virginia. This is one of the largest tracts of undeveloped land owned by the Commonwealth in all of Northern Virginia.

So if you are looking for a home that has a “road less traveled” nearby, Gainesville Va may just be the place.

Lake Manassas – Active Living in Virginia

posted on April 8th, 2012 filed under: Virginia

Just located outside of Washington D.C., Lake Manassas is a great place to see and do it all. Underneath the calm, serene surroundings, there are plenty of attractions around for you to stay busy. For all of those golf fans out there, Lake Manassas is home to two golf clubs,The Stonewall Golf Club and The Robert Trent Jones Golf Club which actually shares the same gated entrance as the Lake Manassas community.
If golf isn’t the answer and your looking for a more family friendly activity then just right around the corner is Washington D.C., where your family can check out Capitol River Cruises for a sightseeing tour on the Potomac River. If your family loves history, you can go on a mule driven C & O Canal Boat Ride where costumed guides tell stories about this historic waterway. D.C. offers so many different ways of sightseeing, you have daytime and nighttime trolley tours, a self guided walking tour with illustrated signs that tell stories of this beautiful capital, or you can even go on a Segway tour of Washington’s historic sights.
I’ve barely touched the activities here and around Lake Manassas and already that’s a few days worth of great things you can do here! At it’s heart, Lake Manassas offers active families a great place to grow up and build memories.
