Chicago – Dog friendly is important.

One of the neatest things about a vibrant downtown is that it is, well, a vibrant downtown skyline. It is a buzzing metropolis with lots to do, and lots of things to see. But when you move to Chicago with a canine companion, you can find yourself looking for a lot more than just a home for you! This would be true in other major cities as well.

Here are a couple of things to keep in mind:

- You are not the first dog lover to move to Chicago! This means that there are plenty of resources available for you. You simply need to ask and find out BEFORE you purchase or sign a contract rather than after.
- Local pet stores can be a GREAT source of information about dog friendly housing and facilities.
- Contact a REALTOR. They have likely been asked hundreds of time about which condo developments are friendly to dogs and what is avialable.
- Contact a local vetrinarian. This is a good idea anyway, but they can also provide you with the best information.

Finally, do not be afraid to take your time and ask residents of a condo complex about this and any other issues that you might be concerned with. It is important to know what the REAL policies are before getting under contract to buy or lease.
